This  armoire came over from Germany and had been in the owner's family for over one hundred years. A move from New York City resulted in some damage many thought un-repairable.

A broken counter weight hinge resulted in severe damage to this armoire door. Besides not being useable, both sides had the hinge channel broken in several pieces. Some pieces were missing completely.

The hinge had been repaired before but the repair firm used a brazing process in a screw hole. This resulted in a very week joint which was bound to fail.

We had the break welded, which is much stronger than brass. Then we relocated the screw hole below the repair for maximum strength.

All sides are finished to match the wood, this makes it more difficult to find the repair when completed.
